Maybe you're looking for something a little different.

  • Maybe you're retired or semi-retired and miss working with people but don't want another full-time career.
  • Maybe you're returning to the workforce and looking for meaningful, fulfilling work.
  • Maybe you're an experienced professional who has decided 40+ hours a week isn't what you want anymore.
  • Or maybe you're a college student or early in your career looking for real professional experience.

We're open to all of those possibilities and more. We care much less about what path brought you here than we do about who you are when you arrive.

We're looking for someone smart, dependable and genuinely good with people. Insurance experience is not required.

A little about us

We're a long-established State Farm agency in Erie with a small, experienced team that genuinely enjoys working together to help the people and community we serve.

Our workplace philosophy is pretty simple when great people choose to work with us and take great care of our customers, we believe they deserve to feel trusted, appreciated and genuinely valued in return.

People here are trusted without being micromanaged. We work hard, help each other, laugh together and recognize that everyone has a life and family outside the office. Several members of our team have been here for years—including one for more than two decades.

Our office is professional, but not stuffy. It's friendly, comfortable and welcoming—and we're proud that our customers tell us they feel that when they work with us.

We want people to feel genuinely cared for when they reach out because they need our help.

So what would you actually do?

You'll be one of the people our customers reach first by phone, text, email or when they walk through the door. You'll learn to handle routine customer needs independently, maintain accurate information, complete agency tasks, schedule appointments, follow up and help keep the office moving.

As you learn the business and become licensed, you'll take on more insurance-related responsibilities.

Your first priority is taking care of what the customer contacted us about. From there, be curious. Get to know them and pay attention to what's happening in their life.

You don't have to think of yourself as a salesperson, but you do need to be comfortable asking questions. Sometimes your job is simply to

take care of the customer and ask one more question that connects them with the right person on our team.

Who tends to thrive here?

  • A People Pleaser. You genuinely like people and get satisfaction from helping others.
  • A Problem Solver. You enjoy figuring things out and finding solutions.
  • Smart & Curious. You learn quickly and want to understand how things work.
  • An Excellent Communicator. Phone, text, email and face-to-face all matter.
  • Exceptionally Dependable. As Todd tells his kids Do what you say you'll do. Be where you say you'll be.
  • Emotionally steady. Empathy matters, but so does helping without carrying their problem home with you.
  • Positive. You bring a steady, constructive energy and understand that how you show up affects the people around you.
  • Self-Directed & Team-Minded. You own your work while staying aware of the people around you.
  • Embraces Technology & Change. You learn new tools, adapt quickly and look for better ways to work.
The right person matters more to us than the perfect résumé.

Licensing, Scheduling & Future Opportunity

Licensing You don't need a license to apply, but successfully obtaining a Pennsylvania Property & Casualty license within an agreed timeframe is required for ongoing employment.

Scheduling We'll provide a reliable schedule with reasonable advance notice while recognizing that needs may evolve. Additional hours will periodically be available, and reasonable flexibility to help with coverage will be an important part of succeeding in this role.

Future Opportunity Additional licensing, responsibilities and earning opportunities may develop for someone who demonstrates the interest and aptitude for more. We're hiring for this part-time role, though—not with the expectation or promise that it will become full-time.

This probably isn't the right role if...

You're looking for an easy office job, resist learning or change, need frequent direction, struggle with reliability or believe “that's not my job” when a teammate needs help.

And if workplace drama, gossip or unnecessary conflict is something you tend to bring with you, we're probably not your people. We care deeply about our team culture, and we intend to protect it.

But if you're smart, dependable, kind and looking for meaningful part-time work with good people while helping take care of the customers and community we serve, we'd really like to meet you.
